My blog is a big part of my business and my creative process. It really is a kind of living journal for me. It's patient and loyal, it listens and even responds with your comments. It's where I feel like I can share my ideas, my work, my creativity, my life. I can be joyful, grateful, wistful, excited and nervous. In the two and a half years I've been pursuing this amazing dream my blog has become the record of triumphs big and small and will hopefully record many more incredible adventures, not just my own, but the adventures of the people who have come into my life as a result of my work.

almost famous

I am influenced by the thousands of images I see every day. Movies, advertisements, music videos, other photographers, etc. all play a huge role in what I create when I get behind my camera or sit down at the computer. The biggest challenge is to create images that I can confidently call my own.

Today I went out and shot one model (don't worry she's okay) and three sets of images each with a specific influence in mind. This first set is my version of almost famous;

Full Sun :: Kelly Moore contest

Kelly Moore is an amazing photographer in Ruston Louisiana. She is at the very top of my list of photographers whose workshop I long to attend.
Kelly really knows how to work full sun to her advantage. In fact Kelly rocks any lighting situation. Right now she has a little contest running on her website for full sun images. This image is my absolute favorite full sun shot. I love the colour, the moody clouds in the background, even the reflection of the water on Sarah's face;

Luke is a lucky boy. He is born into a family of incredibly kind and loving people. This family oozes goodness. It's in the way they talk to each other, look at each other, even the way they casually touch each other. I feel incredibly blessed to be invited into their lives.

Brittinea was sweet enough to be my model for a day last summer and I can't wait to go out and and play with her again. She is a stunning beauty with modeling experience.How fun for me!!!

We were sitting here looking at this picture and a huge discussion came out of it.....
Azarie is front and center and boasts of energy are shooting through our computer screen, knowing this lil man is like that daily. Mackenzie is looking carefree and quite whimsical at the world around her as if nothing could possibly get better. Camdyn is sitting on the railroad tracks looking as if she is a bad ass staring down the camera. She looks her adorable rebellious self. You definately captured these little beings as they truly are:)

Hey Mickey, So glad you received the magazine. I got my latest issue yesterday too. Aren't the images breathe taking? Pocket Wizards are radio trans-receivers that allow me to fire my flash off camera. Very portable, perfect for on location lighting.

I worked for Elaine years ago. She was a great boss; she is kind, and funny, and has high expectations for the people who work for her. She helped to instill a strong work ethic in me and for that I'm grateful.
So when she called me to take a few head shots for her latest business venture I was more than happy to oblige.
