WELCOME!
My blog is a big part of my business and my creative process. It really is a kind of living journal for me. It's patient and loyal, it listens and even responds with your comments. It's where I feel like I can share my ideas, my work, my creativity, my life. I can be joyful, grateful, wistful, excited and nervous. In the two and a half years I've been pursuing this amazing dream my blog has become the record of triumphs big and small and will hopefully record many more incredible adventures, not just my own, but the adventures of the people who have come into my life as a result of my work.

I love feedback and hope, if something catches your eye or your interest, you will leave me a message.

Love Dani

When you find someone you want to spend the rest of your life with it's a pretty amazing thing. It's even better when that someone has fabulous siblings that you really connect with.

I always wanted a sister growing up, a soul mate who could share in my every fancy and every passion.  Then I met Devin that all sorta just fell away. Devin became that person in my life. What I never expected was that I would gain the sisters I longed for as part of the deal.

Every year I love Devin more than the year before. And every year I don't think it's possible to love anymore but I just do. It's the same for his sisters. We've always gotten along, but every year I feel closer to them and love them more.  After 13 years with Devin it's hard to remember life without my sisters. It's like they've always been there.

This past summer I photographed Kylie, Devin's youngest sister, with her boyfriend Andrew in Edmonton. It's funny how much Andrew and Devin are alike. If they were the same age I'd swear they were separated at birth... more on that next time.

Cheers,
Dani

The weather here has been so unseasonably warm. We're actually reaching temperatures above freezing in January! So late last night I was itching to run out and capture some of this beautiful winter wonderland and frost that we've been having every morning and Rissa was kind enough to volunteer.

It was so warm this morning that we almost didn't find frost. Don't be fooled though, Rissa still froze her butt off standing out in the wind in a skirt. She's such a trooper and I think her efforts were well worth it. We managed to make some fabulous images. Here's a sneak peek;

Thanks Rissa!

Cheers,
Dani

This is the best September I can remember. The weather is perfect, hot during the day and cool at night. I'm loving every second of being in my new fabulous space. Football season has started, though I'm just a spectator this year.

Recently I went out with Mrs. Mickey MacGillivray and MySpace idol Brittinea and made some fun images. Oh, I should mention "Telle", Brittinea's rock star boyfriend who is both an awesome assistant and a great prop. Check out his band The World Alive.

I love these images from our play date;_MG_4704.jpg bitt1.jpg britt2.jpg britt3.jpg _MG_4794.jpg britt4.jpg britt5.jpg britt6.jpg _MG_4951.jpg

These images were processed and posted from my new computer / monitor that has not yet been calibrated, so please let me know if anything is really off. Thanks!

Dani

September 13, 2009 // portraits / wedding
If you know anything about me, you know I love shooting where there's vehicles. Vehicles bring their own personality to the table and no two are alike. Even when you get the same make and model, they seem to take on personalities all their own.
So at a recent wedding, they had hired someone to drive a school bus to transport guests back to their hotel (GREAT IDEA!!). After we finished shooting for the evening, I thought I'd grab a couple volunteers to come out and let me play with them and the awesome bus! Well, it was a hit and so much fun. We ended up having a line up of people to volunteer and even the bride and groom joined the fun. Now this is my kinda photo booth!

When I was a little girl I thought I would grow up and become the Sugar Plum Fairy. I believed this for much longer than I'm willing to admit. I really had no reason to believe I couldn't, after all I had an Auntie who was a fairy. (Turns out she's a hippie, but they're still much the same in my book). From the time I can remember until puberty set in and changed everything, I ate, slept, breathed dance.IMG_5605.jpg IMG_5609.jpg

So when I met Marrissa last fall I felt an immediate connection with this swan like dancer. I could not wait to photograph her with her pointe shoes and dance attire! I finally got the chance a few weeks ago; IMG_5692_bw.jpg swan.jpg
This is probably my favorite from the entire session;

I'll post more as soon as I dig myself out from under my "to-do" pile.

We are so busy and loving every second of it. Grad season is in full swing, wedding season up and running, and it's finally nice enough to go out and play with families!!! I have so much to post but only have time for a couple of sneak peeks;
This is the Malenfant Family...
IMG_8377.jpg
So sweet and full of energy. Emma's a dancer and Evan's quite a performer himself. I think my favorite thing about the Malenfants is how crazy they are for each other. More to come soon.

The next sneak peek is my first graduate this year. Shelby rocks, I mean totally, fabulously ROCKS,dresstruck.jpg cas_truck.jpg
I can't wait to post more from this session!
Now I'm off to prepare for the next graduate.
Cheers,
Dani

For Mother's day this year, Sarah arranged a Mother / Daughter session for her and her Mom. It's about time too. The last time these two had professional pictures together, Sarah was is grade four. I hope you two decide to make this a yearly tradition!

Fiona was a great sport about having her picture taken, but mostly she just wanted to watch Sarah have hers taken.

My very good friend, Janelle, has just opened a small hair studio in her home and does amazing work. She will also be doing hair and make up for the studio.
To celebrate her new venture and my new venture Janelle gathered some beautiful women did their hair and make up and we took pictures and drank wine. It was a fabulous evening!!

More from yesterday.
This began as our Factory Girl set and quickly turned into playing with lights. It's hard to believe these were shot in harsh afternoon light.
