I can't believe what a phenomenal summer it was! Thanks a million times over to every one of our fabulous Van Steelandt Photography clients. Not only are you the hottest, most attractive people on the planet but your patience is amazing. I can't see light at the end of the editing tunnel just yet but I'm sure it's coming.
I must also thank the awesome team who has taken on some of my post processing jobs. Thanks to your handy work, I may have time for my family again.
If you haven't yet received your proof package and your concerned, give the studio a call and I'll let you know when you can expect it.

You don't have to look far to be inspired. This morning, driving down highway 2, I was overcome with emotion by the beauty of where I live. It was the way the light shone through a light dusting of clouds and settled among the rolling hills of a quaint little farm complete with red barn. Chills went up and down my spine and my eyes welled. I just wanted to pull over and make beautiful images, but I didn't.
Too often I'm inspired and let that inspiration fade. Sure I can go back to whatever it was that inspired me, but will the scene be as crisp, the emotion as intense? What is that inspiration worth if I don't act on it?
So today when I got to the studio I pulled out my inspiration file and started planning. Here's todays story board and I have scheduled a time to put it all together in my own way. Be sure to check back for the images...

My very good friend, Janelle, has just opened a small hair studio in her home and does amazing work. She will also be doing hair and make up for the studio.
To celebrate her new venture and my new venture Janelle gathered some beautiful women did their hair and make up and we took pictures and drank wine. It was a fabulous evening!!

We're moved into the new studio but still waiting on about half of our furniture to arrive. We won't have regular hours until the end of June. That's about when we hope to have everything here and ready to go. You can find Devin and I at the studio on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday from 4-6pm and on Thursdays from 4-8pm.
We are taking appointments in the studio now so if you'd like to book give us a call or come down and check things out.
On Saturday Devin and I celebrated at the studio and hooked up the remote system for the camera to take a few pics of ourselves in our new diggs;
Then on Sunday, Mother's Day, Mom and I got a few shots together;
I have so many things to blog. Hopefully I'll find some time to get all caught up in the next little while.

It hasn't come very easy these past few weeks. I'm up late and awake early. Sleep is restless and filled with images of things that need to be completed, things that must not be forgotten, things that aren't perfect... yet.
I will post images this weekend of the progress in the studio. I wish I had taken before pictures.
My thoughts are scattered...
I think I will try to sleep soon. Right now sleeping looks and sounds great;
Yes Mom, I know I haven't seen you in like almost 3 weeks. I'll try to stop in this weekend.

Kelly really knows how to work full sun to her advantage. In fact Kelly rocks any lighting situation. Right now she has a little contest running on her website for full sun images. This image is my absolute favorite full sun shot. I love the colour, the moody clouds in the background, even the reflection of the water on Sarah's face;

Brittinea was sweet enough to be my model for a day last summer and I can't wait to go out and and play with her again. She is a stunning beauty with modeling experience.How fun for me!!!

I show everybody, I can't help myself. It is among my most cherished possessions. The KISS album of mine and Devins first professional photo session is what I would save if my house was on fire and my loved ones were safe. We have decided to have professional photos done at least every two years from now on. Eventually I will have an entire collection of albums that document our lives and our love.
I absolutely love designing albums. Knowing that my clients have such an amazing way to cherish their images the same way I cherish mine fills my with joy.

I received a couple of lovely emails from brides today thanking me, but I cannot express enough just how thankful I am for them. I really can't think of a better job. I meet the most amazing people and I'm constantly making new friends. Devin is always making fun of me because after every shoot I always say I want that couple to be our new best friends. Kinda creepy, I know, but I really do love and appreciate all of my incredible clients.
