WELCOME!
My blog is a big part of my business and my creative process. It really is a kind of living journal for me. It's patient and loyal, it listens and even responds with your comments. It's where I feel like I can share my ideas, my work, my creativity, my life. I can be joyful, grateful, wistful, excited and nervous. In the two and a half years I've been pursuing this amazing dream my blog has become the record of triumphs big and small and will hopefully record many more incredible adventures, not just my own, but the adventures of the people who have come into my life as a result of my work.

I love feedback and hope, if something catches your eye or your interest, you will leave me a message.

Love Dani

I was nervous to even post that I needed help to try and win this bag. What if no one responded? This was a serious consideration. I didn't win the Kelly Moore Bag, but have never felt so great about losing. With over 40 comments on my blog post and almost as many on Kelly's, I'm blown away at how many people lent their time and support. I'm reminded again of just how lucky I am to do what I do and cross paths with so many fabulous people like you.

FABULOUS DEALS FOR FABULOUS PEOPLE
As a thank you for your support I'm offering $50 off any session booked between now and February 10th. Also anyone purchasing prints between now and then can purchase them at 2009 prices.

Here are a few images from a fall family session;

Thanks again. You have no idea the impact you can have on someone with a kind word, gesture, or act.

Cheers,
Dani

I've known Jon for several years. We met way back in his teen years. Carmella and I had crossed paths a few times but we had never formally met. I knew they were thinking about getting married, and after really meeting Carmella at one of our favorite weddings this summer, I secretly wished that they would get married sooner rather than later and that I'd get to be their photographer.
So when Carmella contacted me late this summer, I was ecstatic. We met up in Saskatoon earlier this fall and had a great time creating some family and engagement images.
I cannot wait for next September!
Cheers,
Dani

Oops! I mean you guys are gorgeous!!

"I think I can, I think I can"; I keep repeating the phrase as I work to pull my business train over what feels like a giant mountain. Since opening our studio in May I have been overwhelmed by the workload I've taken on. I love that I have a job that I'm passionate about, but I think I've learned, perhaps the hard way, just how much I'm capable of.

The good news is that I'm done with any new sessions until the New Year and that means I should be all caught up and have some time to relax and celebrate by the time Christmas arrives. I'm also pretty sure my New Years resolution will have something to do with balance and staying caught up.

My blog has been somewhat neglected and will probably remain that way until after Christmas. But for now here are a few images from a recent Mother / Daughters session. This is the first of this type of session I've done and I was doubly nervous because the Mom in this family is a photographer herself. We had a blast though and I'm sure her teenage girls are still making fun of some of the foolish things I say!

Cheers,
Dani

I can't believe what a phenomenal summer it was! Thanks a million times over to every one of our fabulous Van Steelandt Photography clients. Not only are you the hottest, most attractive people on the planet but your patience is amazing. I can't see light at the end of the editing tunnel just yet but I'm sure it's coming.

I must also thank the awesome team who has taken on some of my post processing jobs. Thanks to your handy work, I may have time for my family again.

If you haven't yet received your proof package and your concerned, give the studio a call and I'll let you know when you can expect it.

Also, grads, a shipment of graduation prints has arrived. Stop in or call to see if yours is here!

No post is complete without an image so here is a few sneak peeks for a family that has made it to the top of the editing list;

September 14, 2009 // family
It was so beautiful last night and I had the pleasure of taking in an evening in the life of a terrific family. We travelled by quad to some of their favorite family spots and I'm so in love with their images that I just couldn't wait to post a couple;_MG_4308.jpg _MG_4324.jpg

Absolutely Wonderful! Wow where did you ever find these gorgeous ladies!!! :)

(09.13.09 @ 10:26 AM)
It's their curiosity, yep, that's my favorite thing about children this young. Do you remember when everything was new and you didn't think you'd ever run out of questions?

The Kirkland family is sweet and playful and super cooperative. It was a rainy morning when we met at the studio, but Mom and Dad with happy kids in tow were willing to tough it out outside. I'm so glad they did. I love the fresh feeling of these images;

Oh to be small enough to be scooped up into the safety of Dad's arms.
Sigh...

I can't say enough good things about this family. They are simply every photographers dream; beautiful inside and out, loving, playful, open to anything, have an amazing yard, love photography, and put lots of thought into what they wanted their session to be. All these things add up to an incredibly fun session and amazing images!

This is Helen and Arnold;

I just love Grant. He was laughing and being silly the entire time we were there. His nieces and nephews are crazy about him too.
In fact the children in this family have amazing relationships with all of their Aunts and Uncles. The love in this family is infectious.

These pictures have deeply moved me. Thanks for capturing the beauty of my extended family and reminding me of the richness of my heritage. I used to go for car rides with Grandpa in that car! I spent a lot of time on that farm when I was growing up.

We are so busy and loving every second of it. Grad season is in full swing, wedding season up and running, and it's finally nice enough to go out and play with families!!! I have so much to post but only have time for a couple of sneak peeks;
This is the Malenfant Family...
IMG_8377.jpg
So sweet and full of energy. Emma's a dancer and Evan's quite a performer himself. I think my favorite thing about the Malenfants is how crazy they are for each other. More to come soon.

The next sneak peek is my first graduate this year. Shelby rocks, I mean totally, fabulously ROCKS,dresstruck.jpg cas_truck.jpg
I can't wait to post more from this session!
Now I'm off to prepare for the next graduate.
Cheers,
Dani

Luke is a lucky boy. He is born into a family of incredibly kind and loving people. This family oozes goodness. It's in the way they talk to each other, look at each other, even the way they casually touch each other. I feel incredibly blessed to be invited into their lives.
